PhilSAT Exams: The New First Step in Becoming Lawyer

As you know, the Law Education Borad (LEB) had already implemented this upcoming school year the PhilSat Exam or more commonly known as Law Entrance Exam.

This is not your ordinary entrance exam which usually an aspiring student takes before he can enroll to the school he preferred. Rather this is a nationwide exam which would already screen people before they can even inquire from schools if they can enter.

This is more like the National Medical Admission Test  (NMAT) which requires all aspiring doctors to take this exam first before they can go to med school. To be able to enroll in medicine, you need to have a passing score. And, each school has its own standard. Even if you have a passing NMAT score  for example 70% score, but the school you want to enroll in has a prerequisite of at 80% in NMAT to be able to enter, then you will not be admitted.

This will be the future of Law Entrance Exams. The PhilSat will serve as standard and will screen people who will be able to enter law school.

However, as of now, since its the pilot batch to take the exams, the Board decided to be more lenient. The passing was supposed to be 65% however, I have heard recently that it will be down to 55%. Also, the rumors is that you will be admitted to any school as long as you take the PhilSat exam. Although this is not confirmed yet.

To all those aspiring lawyers or thinking of going to law school, please register now so you will be able to take the PhilSat exam.

  2. Hi Alex, I apologize for the delayed response. I do hope your inquiry was answered by other sources or person consdering the time that have lapsed. Yes, there is a plan for another exam this year but have not been fully confirmed. It was said that it will happen on September or later.

You can still enroll to law school but has conditions and will be subject to the College's discretion. Kindly go to this link for more info: Enrolling to First Year Law: Did not take PhilSat Exams -- http://lawandbar.blogspot.com/2017/06/enrolling-to-first-year-law-did-not.html
